DeCluttering and Finding Orphans

October 13th, 2009  Posted at   Doing

After decluttering the kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom I’m finally starting on my office/studio.  I found new homes for the thousands of labels I have carted around forever (I never use labels – why do have box after box of them?).  I gave away an old printer than I’m not sure will work to someone who works on them.  I threw out magazines, put all of the recipes I print out into a binder in the kitchen, weeded through my books and am selling my podcasting equipment.

In the process I’ve retrieved the following orphaned projects:

  • A knit scarf of fun fur, half finished.
  • Four (!) socks in various stages of completion on needles
  • A top-down knit sweater where I can see I’ve already hosed up the neckline
  • A sweatshirt that I’ve rehabbed with Chinese-style brocades into a jacket – just needs hemming!
  • Two needlepoint projects

This is on top of my current project (the mohair Snuggy I am crocheting) and the next-in-line, merino wool watchcaps for my husband and father in law.  Additionally, I was looking for something in the living room side table and found the drawer stuffed with a bag of yarn and what looks like another sock project.  Since I don’t declutter in there until next week I just took a deep breath and shut the drawer.

I guess I’d better get busy!
