Day One is Always the Best

Starting today I will record my progress on different goals I am working towards.  Right now I have a set of 8 daily action items that will keep me moving toward my goals:

  1. Do at least one thing for The Artist’s Way.
  2. Read at least 1 poem.
  3. Work on 1 action item from my “big list” (these are bigger to-dos like dr. appointments and getting the oil changed).
  4. Make a to-do list for the next day.
  5. Write at least 1 blog post.
  6. Do one thing for philosophy class.
  7. Do one thing for The Ode Less Travelled.
  8. Do one thing for the house.

Now, I’m not going to be hard-nosed about it.  If I get out my philosophy reading list and see what I need to read next, bookmark and it put it next to living room chair, that will count.  Re-blogging a photograph counts. They can all be super-small, baby drips, but I HAVE to do them.  The idea is that all of those baby drips will add up.

Of course, today was perfect!

  1. I did my “morning pages” and reviewed Chapter 1 of The Artist’s Way.
  2. Poem: Pink by Luci Shaw I liked the imagery of giddiness of the petals flying up from the passing cars.
  3. Big list item is done – I actually wrote down the big list!
  4. Tomorrow’s to-do list is done.
  5. I’ve posted several times, here and on my other blog.
  6. Wrote down my reading assignments for this week and put my put and assignments by my chair.  Just doing that made me excited to start reading!
  7. Checked where I am in The Ode Less Travelled – I’d finished Terza Rima and am supposed to try writing some Quatrains.
  8. Emptied the dishwasher and cleaned up the kitchen.

And it only took me half an hour…
