The Artist’s Way – Week Four Starting Out

September 21st, 2008  Posted at   Art Every Month/Artists Way

I just finished reading week 4 of the Artist’s Way and am feeling horrified, excited, scared, stupid, squirrelly, and lightheaded.  Why?  Because I’m not supposed to read this week.  Reading deprivation.

Understand, that to do this correctly I must eliminate the following:
Books
Blogs
Google Reader
FriendFeed
Email (except for work emails)
Website browsing

The other caveat is that I cannot replace reading with another piece of “brain candy”, like TV, talk radio, etc.

I can, however, read the Week 4 chapter, write and blog.

One day at a time, right?  And I don’t have to start until tomorrow….

  • OMG, no email or TV either? I didn't realize that... I don't think I'm gonna make it. Good luck!
  • Well, Cameron says not to replace reading with another activity that is
mind-numbing, like TV. I already watch too much TV, so I just won't watch
more to make up for the time I'm not reading.
  • Oh my. I haven't read the chapter yet. Now I'm scared.
We don't have cable so all I do is read. We are really
going to have to support each other through this one.
  • Approved
  • Well in my morning pages today I brainstormed all the things I could do
instead. Most of them I wouldn't want to do - like weed the garden and
start fall cleaning the house. There are also some things like finishing
the two pairs of socks I have going that I'm excited about. Listening to
music with headphones on would kind of shut out the family, wouldn't it?

I'm also excepting reading Creativityist and comments on my blog from the
reading exclusion. Maybe we need to exchange emails and set up an AA-like
    support system. LOL.
